Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Recruitment Process?

It’s a 3 stage process. We accept application by CV and Covering Letter. Once your CV has been reviewed and if we believe you are suitable, you will be contacted for a short telephone interview. If we decide to proceed with your application you will be invited in for a face to face interview (1st interview). Further Interviews (2nd and 3rd interviews) are then held by Hiring Managers and our CEO and Managing Director.

How should I prepare for an interview?

It is important to conduct thorough research about Faststream, our history and how we operate as a business. An interview is a two way process so it is equally important to come equipped with lots of questions for us to answer.

What do we look for?

We look for highly driven and motivated individuals with excellent communication skills. Experience in competitive target-driven industries is desirable, but if you are energetic, communicative, hardworking and target-focused you are half way to becoming a Recruitment Consultant. The ability to sell is also an integral part of the role.

Where are we based?

We are fortunate to have waterfront offices in Ocean Village, Southampton. It offers great views of the marina and a perfect working environment. We also have offices in Fort Lauderdale, near Miami in the USA, and City centre offices in Singapore.

How can I apply?

Call us on + 44 (0)2380 33 4444, or email your CV and covering letter to rachel.sheridan@faststream.com

Who will interview me?

Rachel Sheridan, our Internal Recruiter conducts initial phone interviews and first stage face-to-face interviews. From then on our Managers and the Directors become involved in the recruitment process.

Can I transfer to overseas offices?

All internal vacancies are advertised within the organisation before we advertise externally. Opportunities in our overseas offices are included in these vacancies, and should you meet the appropriate criteria, it is a possibility.

How often do you recruit?

We have a really challenging growth plan for the next 3 years and are looking to grow our teams substantially over this time. With this in mind, we are always looking for new talent to join our business. We are really proud of our very low turnover in staff; therefore the majority of our hiring is as a result of our growth plans.

How can I progress in the organisation?

Once you have a shown that you can consistently hit your targets and have proved yourself to be fully competent in your marketplace, the next step is to move up to a Senior Consultant. At this stage you will receive a salary review, company car or allowance, mobile phone and more annual leave. Following this, we have opportunities to manage teams (Managing Consultant), or simply work to the top of your game as an Executive Consultant. Whichever route you choose, you will receive regular feedback

What tips can you give me?

Be prepared, know your CV and be yourself. The most successful interviews lately have been with candidates who really know how to sell and relate transferrable skills from previous jobs into the role as a Recruitment Consultant. Do thorough research prior to your interview and try to understand our markets and our company. Also ask questions - we expect you to be inquisitive and ask good business focussed questions.
